Beyond Comprehension…

Maybe you’ve felt it… that feeling that screams ‘No, don’t you dare!’

The crushing self-doubt that loudly accuses, “You can’t enter there.”

The thought paralyzes you… The idea of approaching a pure, Holy God, who knows your past, sees it all—who could annihilate you in an instant. Of venturing into His presence—His celestial throne room—with all of this past, this guilt—this shame… it terrifies you.

But then, you sense it… the presence of a Spirit that once brooded over the waters of Creationinfinite, placing His hand on your shoulder. Whispering, “I’m already here… with you, beside you.” Jesus’s words thunder through your soul: “I will never leave you or forsake you. I am with you always, even until the end of the Age.”

We’re too often tempted to view God the Father as only an unmovable judge. We forget that it was Jesus who said, God so loved the world…" The Father gave His only son.

If we could truly comprehend the depth of the Father’s love it would shake us to the core of our soul. We carry doubts, guilt, shame, that’s true. But it doesn’t change our Father’s love for us. That love is beyond our comprehension.

How deep the Father’s love for us,

How vast beyond all measure,

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure.

How great the pain of searing loss –

The Father turns His face away,

As wounds which mar the Chosen One

Bring many sons to glory.

Behold the man upon a cross,

My sin upon His shoulders;

Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice

Call out among the scoffers.

It was my sin that held Him there

Until it was accomplished;

His dying breath has brought me life –

I know that it is finished.

I will not boast in anything,

No gifts, no power, no wisdom;

But I will boast in Jesus Christ,

His death and resurrection.

Why should I gain from His reward?

I cannot give an answer;

But this I know with all my heart –

His wounds have paid my ransom.*
