Morning Mercy!

As we lose ourselves in the details of daily life, it’s easy to forget that the Christian life is a life of warfare. As born-again believers, we’ve been conscripted into God’s army – God has equipped us for battle. This is for our good since we face a mortal enemy who does not rest in his attacks.

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph 6:12

In this battle, we are not defenseless.

God has equipped us with armor and weapons of immense power, we are assisted by the armies of Heaven, and God Himself fights for us. In fact, we can never know how big a spiritual battle is happening during the average night just for us to wake up in the morning. It is indeed great mercy and grace that allows us to wake up every morning knowing that God has won the victory in the night again. During the night of vulnerability, God has sent His angels to protect us from the enemy.

King David trusted God with all his heart and life.

He acknowledged that God directed his path and continually sheltered him in His arms. He knew that God was winning victory after victory for him and continued to grace him with His loving-kindness every morning.

We can hold to the same truth that David did. Let’s not forget who makes the mornings bright, refreshing, and renewing for us. The same God who is with us all during the night of our vulnerability, shielding us from anything that can harm our body, soul, and spirit, is the one who makes waking up in the morning possible for us. The One who died on the cross for our sins is the same God who sees us for who and what we are and loves us immeasurably.

We can trust Him each morning to show us the way we should go. To Him we can entrust our life!
